I first knew Lindsay Morgan Lohan in the film Mean Girls. The film shows a gentle girl, Cady Heron, who was brought up and taught by her parents in Africa grew up into a girl who can fight for herself at all coat. Lindsay acted as Cady in this film and her performance was such a success that I remember her name and search for her information on the internet.

Born on July 2, 1986, Lindsay Lohan was a child star. She became the model in the Fort’s advertisements when she was age 3 and has appeared in more than 60 advertisements since three years old. Her first appearance on screen was in the comedy film The Parent Trap, that lovely and innocent girl gave us a deep impression.

When Lindsay was 18, she starred in the Mean Girls which gained her a worldwide fame. After that she steps into the music world and become a pop singer. Her huge success both in film and music makes her more and more popular.

Lindsay is not only popular as an actress and singer; she is also very popular in the fashion world. Her style of dress soon became the fashion vane to most of the American girls.

Lindsay Lohan is not only beautiful. After she becomes famous, there is lots of negative news about her. Drug abusing, alcoholism, homosexuality and other controversial topics make her the most “controversial queen”. There have some reasons: Lindsay has to take the family responsibilities when she was very young because of her poor family, but her parents have not taken responsibility for her: as indulging in gambling, drugs, alcohol, her father has set a “good example” for her, while her mother cares more about money than about her daughter.

Lindsay Lohan’s various images, good or bad, have become a poster shot of reporters and the hottest topic in one of the gossip websites. And it is said that recently, Lindsay has become very fat after breaking up with her girl friend. All in all, those who like Lindsay are as many as those who hate her.

I don’t know much about directors as everytime I see a movie, I would only pay attention to the the actors and actresses of the leading roles and the plot of the story, of course; however, if I must point out one, then I must mention Gus Van Sant, one of the few directors I known. I know him not because of his good appearance but that his great works just make people be unable to ignore him, the sightcing of America’s independent films and one of the most stylish directors all over the world.

When Gus Van Sant walked onto the podium of the Cannes Film Festival in France, I began to search his works in my brain, with the result that a lot of films emerged, Paranoid Park, Paris, je t’aime, Elephant, Good Will Hunting, ect. I couldn’t introduce all his works in detail because that might take me several days or so. So I don’t want to talk much about them, but I think it’s worthy watching them.

Born on July 24^th, 1952 in Kenturky, USA, Gus Van Sant is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. After graduation, he was once a member of a band, Destroy All Blonds and also worked as an assistant to Roger Corman. In 1985, Gus Van Sant finally had his first personal work, Mala Noche, which was regarded as the best independent film of the year. Then his career as a director became more and more grossing. His 1997 film Good Will Hunting made him stand on the top of his career. In his life, Gus Van Sant has got a lot of achievements.

Gus Van Sant is a man who has his unique view towards things. When asked about his film, he answered, “ You can’t copy a film. If I hold a camera, it’s different than if Irving Penn holds it. Even if it’s in the same place, it will magically take on his character, which was part of the experiment. Our Psycho showed that you can’t really appropriate, but it’s not going to be the same thing.

In addition to being a successful film director, Gus Van Sant is also a published author (hia first novel, “pink”, was published in 1997), a musician (two solo albums “Gus Van Sant” and “18 Songs About Golf” were released on the Pop Tones label in late 1997), and a photographer.

Gus Van Sant is famous for his films talking about problem teenages, which is the main reason that I like him. Everytime I saw a film of his, I could know some new problems existing among the youth. I look forward his new works.

Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, singer, and model. Monroe was praised for her comedic ability in such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,  How to Marry a Millionaire, Some Like It Hot and The Seven Year Itch. Her dramatic performance in Bus Stop was hailed by critics, and she won a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Some Like it Hot. There is no doubt that Marilyn Monroe is the most influential woman at that time. Needless to say, she is such a enchanting and sentimental women.

We know Facebook, the lagrest social networking site in the world, and you may be using it right now. Last week, when Facebook pioneered the use of online campainging, we begin to pay attention to Chris Hughes, a Co-founder of Facebook.

I try to search some information about Chris Hughes from the Internet- Hughes graduated from Harvard College with a bachelors degree in history and literature; he is an Entrepreneur in Residence at General Catalyst Partners, where he focuses on identifying new investment opportunities and supporting strategic business development initiatives in the areas of consumer services, Internet and new media, and disruptive technology. And those above are all the information that I can get. What a low-pitched man.

Recently, we are informed of the news that Chris Hughes declared a new invented programme, that is to found a new website called Jumo for a charity institution. Jumo aims at creating a longer relationship between devoters and the devoting reasons. According to Hughes, “ If you could help people find these institutions and needs and combine them with each other, then you would uncover large quantities of unprecedented resources. That is quite different from the feeling when you devote 10 dollars to a known institution.” Jumo is registered as an unprofitable institution and it has had only 3 staff up to now.

The world today paces quite fast and is badly in need of all kinds of resources, especially humans. And Chris Hughes is just the right kind. This kind of people do not have many advantages when they were born. They can’t get much from their parents; however, they know themselves well and take the most of the advantages of themselves and zeised every opportunity reaching them; thus they achieved success at last and try to do good to the society, which gives success to them. I admire this kind of people, like Chris Hughes.
