Orlando Bloom was born on 13 January 1977. He is an English actor. He was born in Canterbury County in England. When he was in Canterbury, his mother had inspired his and his sister’s love for art and literature, and encouraged them to participate in art festivals. Orlando began to recite poetry and prose publicly, and his interest in performing was aroused.

Although he has dyslexia, Orlando managed to get through The King’s School Canterbury and St Edmund’s School in Canterbury, a very good private school. He got A’s on his photography, sculpture and drama courses when he was at school. When he was 16 years old, he went to London for further development. He performed on the stage of National Youth Theater for two years, before he was admitted by BADA College (British American Drama Academy) with a scholarship.

After graduation, he appeared in a number of theatrical and television works. At the age of 20 he made his first appearance as a rent boy in movie “Oscar Wilde”. This role earned him more films attention, and many film producers asked for his participation. But he rejected them and entered Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London for further study.

He had his break-through roles in 2001 as the elf-prince Legolas in The Lord of the Rings. He became a tall, beautiful, calm and courageous elf in this movie, which won him thousands of fans all over the world. And the performance in the later movies The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy helped him gain a lot of fame. However, the role he played in the movie Troy was a little disappointed: he played the younger prince of Troy who fell in love with a young Queen and arouse the famous war. He was a coward and dared not to take responsibility.
