William ‘Will’ Smith, known as Will Smith, was born on September 25, 1968. He is an American actor, and also a hip-hop artist. He has won the Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, also has won more lots of Grammy Awards for his music. He is one of the minorities who has enjoyed success in three major entertainment media in the United States – movies, television and music at the same time.

When Will Smith was in elementary school, his teacher gave him a nickname called “prince”. That was because his mellow accent of western part of the Philadelphia was more charming than any member of the royal family. Will Smith then added a word “fresh” before “prince”, because “fresh” was a very fashionable word in the 80’s United States. From then on, Will began his hip-hop career as “Fresh Prince”. And later, combined with his charming temperament, he began his performing career.

Although sometimes Will Smith looks like a rascal with nothing to worry about, he comes from a middle-class family. His father is an engineer and his mother was the educator, and Will Smith was also an excellent student. Massachusetts Institute of Technology had promised to give him full scholarship, but he gave up this chance and devoted himself to his acting career.

Maybe he had made a right choice, because he is now a household star, and almost everybody likes him. Will Smith’s easy and pleasant film style has the magic to help people forget the bitter memories. People can enjoy cozy and happiness in his films.

Although he has had a failed marriage, Will has a happy family now. He and Jada Pinkett Smith get along very well and they love each other very much. They have two children, Jaden Christopher Syre (born 1998), who co-starred with Will in The Pursuit of Happiness, and Willow Camille Reign, who acted as Will’s daughter in the film, I am Legend.

Will’s films are all very popular. It is even said that the money he earns from each of his film equals to the GDP of some small undeveloped countries. Will is rich, and he is also charity. The couple donated USD$20,000 to Scientology’s literacy campaign, called HELP in 2004.

It was reported that the adventure to the East by Italian explorer Marco Polo in 13th century will be adapted into film. And Will can be the leading role, Marco Polo.
