If you have watched Pride and Prejudice, maybe you still remember the character Darcy. Of course, I also do remember him not because of my good memory, but the likeness of him. He was such a good man. He doesn’t know how to express himself, so he is misunderstood by Elizabeth; however, he is actually very good to her and stands beside her. He uses his heart to love her. So when I finished this film, I even felt a little disappointed as I could never see Darcy again. However, the film Bridget Jones’s Diary gave me another chance to meet the second Darcy.

In Bridget Jones’s Diary, Colin Firth acted as the leading character, whose characteristic is similar to Darcy.

After watching the two films, I can’t help wanting to know the actor of Darcy, Colin Firth. I searched the internet for information as a result that I was shocked by his achievements.

Colin Andrew Firth is an Oscar-nominated and Bafta Award winning English film, television, and stage actor. Firth got wide public attention for his portrayal of Dr. Darcy in the 1995 television adaption of Pride and Prejudice. Subsequently, he achieved film stardom with the international box-office success of Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001). Later, he received an Academy Award nomination for his work in A Single Man on February 2, 2010, for which he won the BAFTA for Best Actor. In his film career, Firth also had many other works. In 1983, Firth starred as Guy Bennett in the award-winning London stage production of Another Country. In 1984, he made his film debut in the screen adaptation of the play, taking the role of Tommy Judd (opposite Rupert Everett as Bennett)…It was through the 1995 BBC television adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice that Firth gained wider renown. In a word, Colin Andrew Firth had a quantity of experiences in which he acted different kinds of characters.

Colin Andrew Firth is also a writer. His first published work, “The Department of Nothing”, appeared in Speaking with the Angel (2000). In 2009, Colin Firth contributed with his writing for the book, We Are One: A Celebration of Tribal Peoples, which explores the culture of peoples around the world, portraying both its diversity and facing threats. It counts with the contributions of many western writers.

Besides the film career, Firth also played William Shakespeare’s comedy. Firth is also a Jury Member for the digital studio Filmaka, a platform for undiscovered filmmakers to show their work to industry professionals.

Above all, Firth is a versatile person. He doesn’t have the perfect appearance; however, he made his life glorious.
